WhatsApp usernames support
Full support for contacts without phone numbers, ahead of WhatsApp's username rollout.
WhatsApp is introducing usernames, and some customers will start appearing without a phone number. Veya now handles this end to end:
- Conversations just work — username-only contacts show as
@usernamein the inbox, contact details, and search. Replies, templates, reactions, auto-replies, and CSAT surveys are delivered the same way as before. - Campaigns include everyone — contacts without a phone number are counted and delivered like any other recipient (authentication/OTP templates still require a phone number, a WhatsApp platform restriction).
- Request phone number — a one-click action in the chat header sends WhatsApp's official "Share Contact Info" prompt; if the customer taps it, their number is saved to the contact card automatically.
